Housebound

There is a lot of sickness going around in our house.  All weekend was spent tending to a sick baby.  Cora has had a fever, cough, congestion, and sick stomach.  I took her to the doctor yesterday and found out she has another double ear infection and sinusitis…poor baby.  Last night I went to bed with such a sore throat I could barely swallow and unfortunately it is no better today.  It is times like this when I wish I could revert 10 years…lay in bed all day long eating popsicles.  Thankfully God has toughened me up.  I remember right after having Cora I had sinus infection after sinus infection…I was broken in quickly…no rest for the weary.  I remember trying to lay her down in her bassinet at night hoping she would stay asleep and then I would start coughing and coughing…which led to her screaming and crying.  The routine would start again…I was practically drinking Robitussin to  keep myself quiet.  But I survived just fine…

This morning Cora walked around the kitchen pulling everything from the cupboards…it’s such fun for her to make a mess.  As long as she is having fun and is safe, I don’t mind her pulling things apart.  Allowing her 30  minutes of pleasure (which is making mess) is worth it.  Every couple minutes she checks in with me…a cold little hand on my leg…a fuzzy head pressed against me…”mama…” She is adorable.

In order to keep myself sane I have been trying to keep the house as clean as possible.  I have also been lighting candles.  Flowers and candles always make me cheerful.

A while ago I posted some pictures of our entry way.

Well, I changed it again…the problem with being in the house for 5 days straight is I fixate on details. I found this little plate for $1.00 a couple weeks ago…I put it in place of the lamp.

I also recovered the seat of the chair. It’ll be much more of a challenge to recover the top.

Since I have had more time at home…

I like it a lot better now.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far!

I guess this answers the question of whether you’ll ever babysit for me again:(. So sorry Cora-Dora is sick. Kisses for her. And I’ll be praying for your recovery too!

Hang in there! One of the hardest parts of being a Mom, dealing with sick kids while your sick, you can never really “stop”. Wishing you all the best this week and hoping you feel better soon.

Thanks Lindsey…I actually find comfort if knowing that you moms who have more than one get through these times just fine…so I know I can as well:)

Hope you are feeling better soon. We are sick too. Emily has been congested for 3 weeks and she is too young for them to give her any meds. I went today and got a cortisone shot. So hopefully tomorrow I will be back to normal.
