A Random Update on Our Life

Every day I plan so many things that I am going to do, one of which is post on this blog.  Every day goes by and I have not posted on the blog, I have not baked the many recipes I have seen on pinterest, I have not hung the folded clothes in my laundry room (YES!  I have a washer and dryer again!), I have not dusted, I have not, I have not, I have not…

But I have fed Elinor every 2-3 hours, I have rocked her while she cries, I have colored with my 2 year old, I have watched more cartoons with Cora than I like to admit…and then I have fed Elinor some more…and then I take a break and I feed her again.  I really don’t mind the constant nursing.  It’s just an adjustment.  Today we went to Hobby Lobby.  I flew through, packed them back in the car, drove to the park…we played for 45 minutes and then the frantic crying began.  I fed her in the car while Cora fussed and cried.  I tell myself it’s good for her…she’s learning to be patient and if she thinks mommy wants to sit in the car and breast feed, she’s wrong.  But life has to go on and Elinor has to eat.

Right now both girls are napping so I thought I would update you on our life.

Cora continues to impress us with Elinor.  She’s still not that interested in her but she is very kind.  She likes to kiss her and tell her “it’s okay baby” whenever Elinor cries.

Elinor smiles at Cora.  I have hope they’ll be friends some day…

We are both in love with baby.  She’s such a sweet little thing.  Easy and sleeps well at night…although she wants me to hold her all the time and I find myself wanting to oblige.  After all she is brand new…

This weekend my sister and her family came in to town.  They have recently moved back from Brooklyn to Atlanta.  We’re so glad to have them closer by.

Cora loves having more cousins to play with.

They played outside all afternoon.

My sister asked me to take some pictures of them…they (like us) were hoping to get a Christmas card worthy picture. Ours failed miserably…(they are all like this or worse)

But theirs turned out.

I had to sneak in some randoms here and there….  I adore her family…yes I do. And this little one who spent so much time in the hospital last year…a feeding tube in her little nose for months and now look at her!  God is so good.

For some reason I cannot get enough of these steps and the blue doors.

And my personal favorite.

Our addition is almost done. The tile is being finished in the bathroom today.  The hardwood is in, the laundry room tile is finished…the walls are painted, trim is being completed today…all that’s left is the vanity light, the plumbing in our bathroom has to be hooked up, the wainscoting put in,…and then lots of cleaning up (plus lots of little details).  We hope to move in this weekend and finally be settled in our new room.

And here is a really terrible picture looking in from our kitchen.  The trim had still not been nailed in when I took this picture.  I still cannot believe how beautiful it all is.  We both feel so undeserving…

I’m so glad it will be done before Christmas.  I love Christmas and plan on putting up a tree the first weekend of December.  Cora seems pretty excited about the holiday season and starts singing “Jingle bells!  Jingle bells!” every time she sees anything festive.  Maybe we’ll be blessed with another white christmas…doubtful but one can hope…

I find myself blabbing.  I cannot put my thoughts together…I cannot be logical or literate…I am so tired and my three coffees have long ago stopped giving me that false rush of energy.  If only I could be given caffeine through an IV….maybe I could get through the afternoon without heavy eyelids and the overwhelming desire to sleep.  But I always use my nap time to do other things.  LIke clean, do laundry and check in on my blogs.

Well, I’m off.  Both girlies will be awake any moment.  If I don’t update before Thanksgiving…Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I am so glad to hear from you. Its a lot of adjustment adding a new member to the family and usually once you feel you are getting enough sleep and things are settling in there happens to be another pregnancy or something to change it up again. You mom said it once, once you have kids, you never sleep again. Ive learned to live in a daily fatigue and it is becoming my new nomral. Gods grace is sufficient.
love you and your girls are so beautiful.

I remember well my first trip out with the kids, it just so happened to be to Hobby Lobby. I didn’t go back for months, so I’m impressed you’re getting out with your two! Your girls are precious, precious ladies. And the pics you took of your sisters family are too sweet. I remember reading their blog about the little one in the hospital, she looks so well!

And can I just say that I’m totally with you on the “I cannot put my thoughts together…” part? It worsened with the 2nd child, but never fear, it gets better…some days… 😉

Love your new addition, and can’t wait to see if finished. The windows are all so amazing. And the fresh feel makes me want to paint all of our trim white!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, bloggy friend!

  4. The days of nursing and nursing some more while trying to take care of toddlers seems like a hazy long time ago for me:) Glad the addition is going well and that it won’t interrupt your first Christmas as a family of 4! And so glad for you that your sister and her family moved closer, perfect timing with the Christmas holidays fast approaching:)

  5. Let me just say I’m impressed that you blogged at all. Good.for.you. 😉 Elinor is precious and that “family pic” is priceless! I’m sure you hear this ad nauseum, but enjoy this time – it goes by fast!

  6. all your have nots are certainly misplaced for good reason and filled with something way better. i think every mom with a newborn should be required not to think about the house for at least the first month. ; ) yeah, right, if only us gals could do that! ha!

so glad your sis is close by. cousin fun is the best of kinds!

adorable/gorgeous/stunning pictures. i, too, would go crazy over the blue door and steps.
