Canada and Cora’s Two Happy Birthdays

We have had a crazy couple weeks. Life has been busy but it has been the best kind of busy…full of celebration and family time.  At this point, we are both exhausted.

Last weekend we made the long trek to Canada to stay with my brother and his family as my cousin was getting married.  It was a very exhausting 17 hours but the girls somehow did really well.  They hardly had one melt down.  Definitely an answer to prayer because Elinor especially is not a good car baby.

The next morning we woke up still tired, had a little time to visit with my brother’s family and then we headed out the the wedding.  Such a beautiful celebration…I adore this cousin and to see him get married was very special.  Reconnecting with Aunts and Uncles I rarely see was such fun…

The rest of our trip we soaked up time with Tim and Aileen.  Their children are so good with our babies and spoiled them rotten.  Cora  started acting like a diva as she took full advantage of their love.

Justin spent a lot of time in their garden making good use of the hammock.

Monday we celebrated Cora’s 3rd birthday.  We left the house so the kids could decorate the house with all the supplies they had bought.  A “C” on the door to greet us as we arrived home.

Streamers everywhere, ballons, princess banners, a fairy costume…

even a chocolate cake. (her divaness can be seen in the picture below)

Can I mention that it is very strange that Cora is 3 years old?  3?  How did this happen!

She still seems so new…the world is turning too fast for me.

But 3 she is…full of 3 year old love of princesses, fairies, Dora, anything sparkly or pink.  She calls me “Princess mommy.”  She is also still full of temper…apparently 3 is even worse?  Oh surely not, Lord.

She loves to play outside so for her birthday we also make a special trip to the local park.  Thank goodness for cool Canadian weather.

And lest I forget Elinor, she loved our trip too!  She even slept every night, all night.  Talk about a very unexpected and welcome surprise.  God was very merciful to us…

And I miss them all.

We came back home and within 2 days we were throwing Cora’s Tutu and Fairy Wings birthday party…

A mixture of fairy wings, butterflies, tutus, ballerinas…pretty much whatever I could find that represented our 3 year old.

I decided that I would do something a little different than my usual tissue poms this year. For some reason this little butterfly thingamajig came to mind.

The lovely little princess fairy-ballerina.

We had face painting…

Crafts…

It was a very happy birthday for our little one.

May God bless her with many, many more.

Yeah Canada! Up near my neck of the woods! ;) Looks like you guys had a lovely time and so HAPPY God was merciful to you regarding melt-downs and babies sleeping through the night. Woohoo!

Cora is such a precious little peach. She reminds me so much of my daughter, it’s almost like looking at her in a couple years haha! How is she already 3? Her fairy party looks like it was absolutely magical, the cupcakes are just adorable. You’re such a good mommy! And Elinor, ahh! She is growing up faster than I can believe!

Thanks for sharing your blessings :)

I love all the pictures! Can you send me a copy of the one of you and I together at the wedding and I also want the one of me with Camille!:) Anyways, beautiful, beautiful pictures and I am so glad, that for the very first time in her life, we could share in Cora’s birthday celebrations! You did a great job and we all had such a fun time!

    Love you much sister!

How fun! I LOVE Cora’s diva picture. The butterfly mobile is great, you did an amazing job decorating, as always. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for Elinor’s birthday. And I laughed when I saw it was Wesley face painting. It’s funny, but he, Justin, and Matt would all be way better than us (and Ashley), those SCADdies… I can’t wait to see you this weekend!

Thanks for posting all the photos of our funny little Cora’s birthdays. I love seeing them. And I still can’t get over how similar you and Abby are!

  5. reconnecting with family is pretty awesome! Glad to hear that the drive went well, my sister and her family just made the 10 hour trek to see everyone, as hard as it is to have family far it makes the times together that much more precious. Happy birthday to Cora! Time really does fly by!

Beautiful photos! I would disagree with the statement that Cora has a temper (“shut up!”). She is such a soulful, bright little thing…and Marry loves her dearly!
